Portsmouth.  Last Sunday in the afternoon died at Exeter of
(that revageing disease of our youth) the throat-distemper,
in forty eight hours from her being first taken, aged about
18, Miss Elizabeth Gilman, an accomplish'd young lady,
daughter of Colonel Peter Gilman, Esq:  greatly lamented.

  What once was innocent and fair:
  Nor innocence, nor beauty's pow'r,
  Could re[   ] from the fatal hour,
  Nor prayers could stay the fleeting breath,
  Nor save her from the hands of death,
